CelinexReebok – Freestyle Lo By Dave Meyers
The heatwave is over, and here is a very cool film. Shot through LA\PAC, Dave Meyers brings his eye for movement and pop spectacle to Celine and Reebok’s first collaboration, built around a reworking of the 1982 Freestyle Lo. Reimagined under Celine creative director Michael Rider, the shoe is set loose on the streets of Paris in Meyers’ film. Skaters, breakdancers and dancers move through the city in a mix of styles that nods to the Freestyle Lo’s beginnings as an aerobics shoe while pushing it firmly into Celine’s world. It’s familiar Meyers territory: precise, rhythmic and full of physical energy bringing together the codes of music video, fashion and street culture without overcomplicating the idea.
