Directed by King She through Toronto production company Felon, Lightrunner is a 90-second film made for the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation in partnership with Broken Heart Love Affair. Set to Seven Nation Army by The White Stripes, the film is grounded in real events. King She developed the piece through interviews with Brandon Throop, his family, and his doctor, shaping the story around Throop’s response to a cancer diagnosis. In the wake of treatment, he ran a full marathon in a hospital gown to raise funds for cancer research. The film draws directly from that experience, using it as both its narrative foundation and emotional centre.
