Czech born and based, Petr Simon is a self-taught young director with a strong and edgy style. Petr got to filmmaking through his passion for photography and design aesthetics, even though he never studied either one. Instead of primarily sticking to photography, where he was missing the moment of capturing and expressing everything he wanted, he shifted to filmmaking where he feels confident. His cinematographic style and creative flow is tightly connected to music and sound design, where he finds inspiration for both commercial work and music videos. But the challenge of connecting storytelling and aesthetic visuals is what actually gives Petr the creative drive for all of his projects. His body of work is still evolving, but shooting on film and that added roughness is exactly the look he aims to cultivate. He has previously worked with various global brands and artists, such as About You, Sam Wise, Viktor Sheen or Footshop. In 2019, Petr scored two Silvers at Czech ADC awards for his passion project called MDCL.
