Birth
French director and screenwriter Valentin Guiod (32) trained at ENSAAMA Olivier de Serres in Paris and the University of the Arts London. He is known for Patience (Sabali) (2025), a short film starring Omar Sy, Alassane Diong, and Anna Thiandoum, presented at Côté Court and Off-Courts, winner at Aesthetica, UKMVA, Ciclope, One Point Four… and soon broadcasted on France TV. In 2023, he wrote and directed Frater, his first short film, starring Timéo Mahaut and Guillaume Pottier, which was selected in more than 40 festivals worldwide and broadcasted exclusively on Canal+. In 2022, he created Breathtaking, a musical short film starring Finnegan Oldfield, Diane Rouxel, and Yuming Hey, produced with support from CNC and shown in all MK2 cinemas. He is currently working on Magma, a new short film shot in Reunion Island, with support from CNC, as well as developing his first feature films: Potemkine (laureate of the 2025 Sofilm de Genre residence), The Eclipse of Us Two, a biopic on Amadou & Mariam and co-creating an international series titled Fuck, Yes.
