Riley Blakeway is an Australian-born, award-winning filmmaker whose self-taught career has spanned over 15 years. From skateboarding, to music videos, commercials and narrative, Riley’s work is defined by a deep commitment to authenticity, performance, and emotionally driven storytelling.
Riley’s work has screened at festivals worldwide – SXSW, the UKMVAs, Raindance, Ciclope, New Orleans Film Festival – And has been featured by the likes of The New York Times, The Atlantic, Pitchfork, NPR, Rolling Stone, The Los Angeles Times.
Named one of five directing ‘Rising Talent’ by Inside Film Magazine in 2025, Riley’s recent narrative short, A Thousand Odd Days – starring Tom Wilson and Angie Milliken – premiered at the 72nd Melbourne International Film Festival and won Best Director at Flickerfest and St Kilda Film Festival in 2025. Riley’s most recent work INFINIT3 starring Sophie Wilde premiered at the 73rd Melbourne International Film Festival, where Riley was invited to take part in the director’s accelerator lab to develop his debut feature.
