Ben Canny is an award-winning offline editor hailing from Ontario, Canada, now long settled in London, England. Originally trained as an actor at the prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama, after graduating in 2003 Ben quickly switched allegiances to the edit suite and never looked back, eventually finding his natural habitat with his grubby fingers in the undeniable meat of storytelling: the editor’s non-linear timeline. His background in acting, music and dance gives him a strong instinct for performance and the musicality of an edit, which underpins all of his work. Ben regularly works with the directors The Perlorian Brothers, Mathias and Matias, Filip Nilsson, and Jakob Marky amongst others on an eclectic round up of brands from Samsung, Ikea, Rubicon and Ford to Norwegian sexual wellness brand Kondomeriet. With a passion for character led storytelling he is particularly fond of surreal cinematic comedy, but doesn’t mind getting serious. In fact he encourages it from time to time. His favourite work has a heady mix of both.
