As a director, Wolf Lass explores commercial and documentary film, often merging the two. Since 2020, he has directed branded documentary films and viral campaigns for international clients, mostly in Mexico City. Much of Wolf’s work centers on artisanal, culinary and environmental heritage and craft. He graduated in Austria with a focus on product design.

Through his directing studies at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, he aims to expand his experience in directing. An exchange programme at Stan Richards School of Advertising in Austin, Texas aims to deepen narrative and commercial concept development skills. Further exchanges include an exchange in Nigeria and the interaction
documentary film camp Serbia.

Get some Headspace is Wolf‘s first project ever submitted to a festival. The film was made possible in very close collaboration with all departments of Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg.

This film grew out of a very personal observation: how easily we normalize constant pressure, productivity, and self-optimization — even when it quietly erodes our mental space.
Our approach was to make stress visible through a gradual escalation rather than a dramatic break. The world tightens slowly, routines continue, and endurance becomes the problem itself. Headspace enters not as a solution that fixes everything, but as a subtle shift — a moment that creates space again.

I had no contact with meditation growing up. It began when a friend introduced me to a Wim
Hof breathwork session after an ice bath in an Austrian river. The experience was transformative — how could a simple 10-minute YouTube video bring such clarity and peace? It became a routine. But as stress built during my travels, even 10 minutes were hard to commit to.

During my initial research for the project, I noticed a pattern: When I asked my friends if they knew Headspace, most were familiar with the app, many had it installed, but very few were actively using it. However, everyone knew that they needed more time and calm in their lives. Some friends shared how helpful regular use of Headspace was for their mental health.
My mission was to write a deeply relatable story — both metaphorical and clear in showing why regular meditation is essential today. Even for those who meditate without an app or find calm in walks, the visual representation of headspace is powerful and emotional. Struggling with multitasking and filling every pause in my day, I poured much of myself into the script.

We want people watching to think: “Oh yes, that‘s me.” And above all: “Maybe I should take a deep breath too.”
