Above The Sea Sélim Lallaoui
A 2022 graduate of the Mopa school, Sélim Lallaoui saw his student film win the silver medal at the Student Academy Awards and the Best in Show award at SIGGRAPH.
Between the summer of 2022 and 2025, he had the opportunity to work at several Parisian studios such as Wizz,
or Fix Studio.
Through these experiences, Sélim Lallaoui participated in the creation of music videos, series, cinematics, trailers, and several short films, developing a rich and versatile expertise in the field of animation and image.
Synopsis:
While wandering through the city, a man encounters a school of fish floating around him. Amazed by this discovery, he soon realizes that the swarm keeps growing. Carried by the current, he eventually transforms into a fish himself.
Creative Process:
The intention was to develop an artistic concept based on the idea of floating.
The aim was to immerse the viewer in the daydream of a character, enhanced by soft, late-afternoon pastel tones. In this project, the concept of floating is expressed not only through the fish drifting around the character, but also through the camera’s intent: it constantly gazes upward, reaching toward the sky. This is why the character ultimately takes flight, carried by this very idea, becoming the object of his own contemplation.
