Cameo Blush, POLYPHONY Ryan Charsville

@ryancharsville

Ryan originally from the west country, Bristol. He is a UK-based director and DOP. His passion real passion lies in short form and documentary.

His work focuses on capturing authentic moments and telling stories visually, drawing inspiration from music, photography, striking visuals, and the intersection of different art forms.

By day, he works on commercials and branded content, shorts become a way of escaping the confines of that industry. But at the end of the day, he’s simply trying to make films with heart.

Growing up in a household where electronic music was always playing, I naturally gravitated toward drawing inspiration from that world. I had been listening to Cameo Blush’s music for some time, but when I stumbled across a post of John (Cameo Blush) in his studio recording his saxophone, surrounded by synthesisers and technology. I instantly wanted to learn more.

I really wanted to explore the idea of how the saxophone played a part in his music, and how it lives in the electronic soundscape.

Watching John shape the saxophone’s sound into something that blended so naturally with the rest of the track was something special. Not only that but how those sounds worked with synthesisers, forming a unique blend.

We explored John’s creative process from crafting a track in the studio to performing it live for the first time – that experience ultimately shaped the film into what it is.
