Riley Blakeway is an Australian-born, award-winning writer/director known for his music infused style and unique directorial voice. HIs music videos, commercials, and shorts have enjoyed success at festivals worldwide, and his work has been spotlighted by The New York Times, The Atlantic, Pitchfork, NPR, Rolling Stone and The Los Angeles Times. His collaboration with Ghanaian-Australian artist Genesis Owusu earned him ABC/Triple J’s Australian Music Video of the Year, as well as his ninth Vimeo Staff Pick. His experimental short INVINCIBL3 (2021) premiered on Nowness and was later showcased by Directors Library and One Point Four, winning Best Direction in a Music Video at the 2022 Australian Directors Guild Awards. Riley’s recent narrative short, A Thousand Odd Days won Best Director at Flickerfest and St Kilda in 2025, and saw him selected as a ‘Rising Talent’ by Inside Film Magazine. His most recent short INFINIT3 starring Sophie Wilde premiered at the Melbourne International Film Festival this August and landed him a place in the MIFF Accelerator Lab, supporting filmmakers moving from shorts to features.

Written for, starring and co-created with Sophie Wilde (Cannes Trophee Chopard 2024) with the intention of raising awareness around mental health, addiction, young loss of life and suicide prevention - issues that have devastated the filmmakers personally and our communities in recent years.
