The Long Spring Olly Ginelli
Olly’s first career was in-front of the camera as a professional breakdancer. During which time he learnt piano for 10 years in order to surprise his Dad live on BBC One with a performance for his birthday. That documentary was broadcast on The Today Show and got over 30 million views online and accepted into 10 festivals.
Olly’s first ever feature script - which was only in its 3rd draft - was selected in the top 1% of 4287 submissions by the BBC Voices program 2023, confirming him as one of the UK’s top, up-and-coming screenwriters.
He then raised £50k in private finance to make the proof of concept short, which was recently featured in The Hollywood Reporter, won Best UK Film at SohoLIFF and was selected for its US premiere in Santa Barbara festival. It has 6 months left on its festival circuit
This film is based on the true events of a refugee that I met whilst volunteering in the Dunkirk refugee camp in 2016.
