Director's Works
PITKISSER Mollie Mills
Director Mollie Mills makes impactful, tender work. Regardless if shooting megastars or nonconformists, Mollie’s compassionate approach entices deep truths out of her subjects as she invites them to share their stories on their own terms.
Her recent commercial ’The Power of She’, an empowering Athleta piece centring Simone Biles, was an Olympic advertising highlight. Her Lululemon spot ‘Together We Grow’ packs artistic punch while highlighting the value of community in sport.
Aged 18, equipped solely with a handycam, Mollie won Nike’s Best Young Filmmaker. Soon after, she shot ‘Vogue, Detroit’, a documentary about queer subculture; was named ‘One to Watch’ by MTV, and made the Dazed 100.
Mollie has directed award-winning adverts for further major brands including Stella McCartney, OnRunning, British Airways, Nike and adidas; a Serena Williams-starring Super Bowl piece, and a musical PSA for the Grammy’s. She also shot a queer romance-focused video for the XX’s Romy.
PITKISSER is a seven-minute, two-channel installation by filmmaker Mollie Mills, exploring the Los Angeles subculture of girl mosh. Following Syerrah and Kris, the film centres on young women who find release, connection, and bodily euphoria within the intensity of the pit.
Blurring the line between documentary, short film, and artwork, PITKISSER offers a poetic portrait of a largely unseen community, where moshing becomes a space for reclaiming power and expressing rage. Rooted in long-term collaboration, the film captures a raw sense of intimacy and trust.
Engaging with ideas of girlhood, anti-beauty, and contemporary punk culture, PITKISSER reflects on the persistence of subcultures in an era where they are often reduced to aesthetics.
