Heartsick MK Quane
Mary-Kate Quane is a writer/director from Kildare with a background in English Studies and an M.Phil in Screenwriting from TCD. After producing and shadow directing on several award-winning projects, MK made her writing and directing debut in 2025 with Heartsick: a comedy-drama about female friendship breakup, produced by Rye Films and starring Heather O’Sullivan, John Doran, and Lauren O’Leary. Following this, she was selected to participate in the Judith Weston Directing Actors Lab, where she worked alongside 11 directors and actors to hone her skills. In 2026, MK will release HRTeaze, Annie Sherry’s Actor as Creator funded short, about her experience accessing Gender Affirming Healthcare in Ireland. She is also developing a number of writing projects with Heather O'Sullivan. MK’s work is driven by a passion for storytelling, representation and exploring themes of gender and queerness.
