Director's Works
Ferragamo, The Affair Matteo Mosterts
I grew up in Italy, moved to the U.S., and now find myself spending more and more time in Mexico. My life is shaped by cultural crossover, and I have come to believe that creative contamination is one of the richest forces we have. I bring an aesthetic that is not traditionally American to a humor that often is. At times, not having one clear cultural home can feel disorienting, but more often than not, it is my greatest strength. It gives me range and perspective.
Outside of directing, I am a self-aware snob when it comes to visual craft, and I never miss an occasion to unleash my mascarpone cream recipe during the holidays.
As someone who grew up in Italy, I naturally bring a different eye to how people express themselves through clothes. For this film, the goal was to inject the script with fun using smart, stylized craft. I love nothing more than treating surreal scenarios with absolute seriousness and elevated cinematography. There is something deeply satisfying about treating a lighter moment like it is the most important shot in an artful film. The result is a film that moves fast but never feels rushed. It is dynamic, energetic, and colorful.
