Matheo Fernandes (b.2001), is a film director based in Paris, France.

He once set out to become a chef, but his family’s old camera changed that. It led him toward anthropology, where he explored how different peoples tell their stories through food. In time, he realized he could tell those stories more powerfully through film than anywhere else.

With a strong environmental and humanist approach, he seeks to shift the way we see and imagine the world. He believes in real, handmade, timeless storytelling - rooted in culture and envisioned to endure.

His craft reflects this precision, blended with the insights he has drawn from his sociological research.

The process of making this film began with a personal search, while walking through the fields of my region in Brazil. I had known Tiago and Fernanda for quite some time, so their work had long inhabited my subconscious. I recall seeing one of their pendant lamps on Instagram, which sparked the idea of connecting the brand’s textures and forms with nature itself. From there, I began to play with the notion that the products could become the very landscapes that inspired them: dunes, watery surfaces, and the gentle movement shaped by the wind. The name of the collection, Mirage, emerges from this place of collective imagination and subconscious association. All of these compositions were ultimately recreated during a two-day shoot in our studio, which proved to be a great challenge for us.
