Lorenzo is an award winning director based in London.
Coming from a journalism background, his narrative and visual storytelling always put a human story at its core. Passionate in photography and paintings, his style is observational, always balancing realism with distinctive visuals.

For this kid like so many, all they know is the city. The beautiful chaos of the city; the traffic, the noise, the friends. It’s a jungle, but it’s their jungle. They know every corner, every sound. Nothing feels better, funnier, or more alive than that.

What is the ocean to them? Many haven't seen the sea, let alone thought about gliding on its surface. It's the unknown, it's a formidable wild place full of wonder, excitement, joy and at times danger. The outdoors represent a totally different lens on the world they've so far been exposed to. One isn't better than the other, but can help inform and enlighten the other.

The idea was to capture those little slices of life in the city and on the weekend in Devon through the eyes of our protagonist. Honest, fleeting moments that show the wonder, fear, excitement, and joy in their everyday. Like flipping through pages of their diary, or pressing pause on a memory, just long enough to feel it all over again.

By also juxtaposing these two worlds, the city and the ocean we progressively discover through our protagonists experiences how these two worlds, however different, can inform each other, teach them something new and being part of the discovery.

Ultimately, City Kids offers an incredible opportunity for kids in the city from underrepresented backgrounds to discover, connect, and grow.
