The premise for Save Yourself came to me through frustration as I watched dozens of mental health and anti-suicide public service announcements desperate for a hopeful message. However, I felt disheartened by the generic advice, simple solutions, and responsibility placed on those who were supposed to be the ones reaching out to me. I was yearning for a message empowering those struggling with their mental health from within. The goal was to present another angle: one without a main character, a resolution, or drama. Save Yourself is an anti-suicide message I wish I could have seen before I nearly took my own life and I hope it speaks genuinely to those who still wish to do so.
