Peace Lentils Lama & Yara Elnajjar
Lama and Yara Elnajjar won the WSIS Champion Award in Switzerland at ages 15 and 16 with their AI app for hearing-impaired people. Today, these brilliant sisters and their family are displaced in Gaza, surviving on one shared meal a day—when they can afford it.
The girls, now 19 and 18, are internationally recognized technology students, and even while facing so many challenges, were determined to teach other displaced children how to code. Even from tents, they taught.
Despite all this, Lama and Yara have recently been accepted to major international universities. Amid so much darkness, they are truly a source of hope and light.
The girls saw the 1.4 Awards of Creative Excellence on my profile and jumped into our WhatsApp group: "Please, how can we take part?" We had made Peace Lentils this summer and decided to submit!
For me, it is the ultimate spirit of 'In the Making', and I can't wait to see these girls flourish; they so, so deserve it. Thank you for watching!
