Director and photographer, India Sleem’s work frames subtle nuances within everyday scenes to reveal her diverse characters’ lives as truly cinematic. Her keen eye for colour and composition, and ability to capture intimate moments by forming natural bonds with actors and documentary subjects alike deepens the impact of both her filmmaking and photography.

The prioritisation of authenticity throughout her creative approach has led India to meaningful collaborations in the advertising space. Starring Sha’Carri Richardson, her mesmerising Olay spot is inspirational and affecting. India has amassed an impressive collection of prior commercials for global brands such as Apple, Nike, Fenty, Gap, Converse, Marie Curie and Vogue. Her Nike Air Force 40th Anniversary film was a finalist for the AICP’s Best Advertising Campaign.

As a photographer, India has shot for major brands such as Nike, adidas and Athleta, and style publications including: Esquire and Dazed – while building a rich documentary portfolio.


India’s debut short film, ’Crusts’, a coming-of-age story about the importance of authenticity, had its world premiere at the BFI London Film Festival 2025. She is also in development on her first feature.
