One day, I was driving in my car, listening to the radio, when I heard this Dutch guy tell a crazy story about the artist Madonna.
He claimed that he had come up with the song Like a Virgin, and two months later, when he turned on the radio, he heard the very song he had imagined—only it was performed by Madonna.
He freaked out and accused her of somehow stealing the song from his brain. He didn’t know how, and of course, he had no proof for his theory. People thought he was crazy.
I found this story really fascinating and decided to turn it into a short film. I thought: What if he was right? What if it really happened? That would be so weird.
What if you came up with a global number-one hit but had no way to prove it? The irony is that Madonna supposedly stole his song—and I kind of stole his story.
I tried looking up the interview, but it’s nowhere to be found. Poor guy!
