Design has always been part of how Nexus Studios tells stories. Our Design Studio gives it a home, bringing our motion-first thinking to a wide range of platforms and clients, offering bold, considered design systems that foster long-term creative partnerships.
Design at Nexus Studios is led by celebrated Creative Director, Erwin van den IJssel. Beginning in motion design, Erwin expanded his multi-media skill-set into directing for both animation and live-action; meticulously tailoring each project to its own unique needs. With over 10 years of directing experience, Erwin’s multi-disciplinary expertise is unparalleled; elevating brands such as National Geographic, Adidas, and Chanel with elegance and style.
This sequence is a celebration of craft in all its forms, using a variety of different styles and techniques. From cel animation to 3D animation, we set out to capture motion design in all its forms, and start Playgrounds In Motion festival off with a bang.
Making a title sequence like this is a dream job, especially as I’ve developed a lot of trust with Playgrounds Festival and they allow me to work with a large degree of freedom. . It’s a great chance to be a little more experimental with things, try out ideas and techniques we’ve not had the chance to on commercial jobs. It’s definitely led to some interesting ideas that hopefully we can build upon and apply in other work from here. I’m ready to do more animated embroidery!
