Director's Works
I Might Regret This Aurélie van Oost
Shaped by a nomadic childhood across Europe and Asia, director Aurélie van Oost recently moved from Montreal to Berlin to focus on filmmaking. Freshly graduated from Met Film School Berlin, she previously produced a music video nominated for the Best Berlin Music Video Award and has collaborated with actress and producer Eva Lomby on several projects. Aurélie’s sharp eye for subtle, layered storytelling drew Eva to invite her to direct I Might Regret This. Now based in Berlin, she continues to develop her cinematic and multimedia practice through short narrative works.
"I Might Regret This" is about the invisible weight women carry; in love, in their bodies, in the choices they’re expected to make. We fall in love, we care, we carry the baby, the burden, the blame. Even when the story belongs to two, the responsibility often lands on one.
Through Zoé’s loneliness as an expat, navigating a new city, a language barrier, and her own fertility, the film explores how isolation and expectation intertwine. It’s a tender, absurd look at a woman torn between wanting connection and needing autonomy, trying to stay true to herself in a world that keeps telling her who to be.
