Alex Webb (born 1952 in San Francisco) and Jim Goldberg (born 1953 in Connecticut) are two leading figures of contemporary documentary photography and members of Magnum Photos. Trained at Harvard, Webb began his career as a photojournalist in the 1970s and became known for his powerful use of color, complex compositions, and street scenes, particularly in the American South, the Caribbean, and Mexico. He has published more than fifteen books, including several collaborations with Rebecca Norris Webb, and has received numerous international awards, with work exhibited in major museums worldwide.

Jim Goldberg has spent over four decades developing an innovative and experimental documentary practice that blends photography, text, and long-term collaboration. His work focuses on marginalized communities and challenges ideas of class, power, and happiness through deeply personal storytelling. Widely published, collected, and awarded, Goldberg is recognized as a key figure in expanding the narrative possibilities of documentary photography.
