John (Apashe) and I traveled for two solid days to get to Kyiv. The intention of shooting there was to highlight the amazing artists in Kyiv. We were shooting a documentary in tandem with the video about how to stay creative and impact change as an artist during times of war. Shooting in Kyiv was a humbling experirence—we were with artists/dancers/production talent who were extremely motivated, showed up on time everyday on set despite spending the night in bomb shelters. Every night we were in Kyiv there were drones dropping bombs overhead that we could hear and feel from the shelters. John is really close to the Ukrainian community because in 2013/2014, Ukraine was one of the earliest dedicated fan bases that gave him love for his music and he would play their regularly.
