"John (Apashe) approached me with the idea that, as a music producer or DJ, you have influence. You can tell stories, share ideas, and that comes with responsibility. Like narcissists in politics or cult leaders, some abuse their reach for personal gain. We wanted to explore that to create a discussion. Certain music acts have a cultish connection with their fan base. It doesn’t mean they exploit it, but awareness of that power is crucial. John wasn’t afraid to play the villain in a music video to spark that conversation.
Influence comes with responsibility. Throughout history, power has been misused—in politics, cults, entertainment—exploiting audiences for personal gain. This project invites reflection, especially in music, where artists can develop near-religious followings. That connection isn’t inherently dangerous, but the way influence is wielded matters" - Adrian Villagomez
