TAO/S (Aaron & Winston Tao) are a Chinese-American writing and directing duo. Born to immigrant parents who divorced when they were less than a year old, they were primarily raised by their schizoaffective bipolar mother. Their work often highlights social issues featuring marginalized lower middle class families and explores themes of mental health, fractured families, and parentification from a humanistic lens.

This film became our final goodbye to both our father and the childhood home we grew up in. We lost our dad to cancer in November 2024 and had to sell the house soon after. Since he’d always been our biggest supporter in filmmaking, we carved out a small window to shoot something before putting it on the market. Growing up, we’d mow his lawn and wash his car - he taught us the value of hard work. But that house was also our escape into imagination: film, comics, and ‘90s video games we’d play for hours. So we decided to let our inner kids take over and make an homage to both him and our childhood - something playful, not mournful or sentimental. This was the result.
