Following a woman moving through the landscape in search of something less tangible than a destination, the film centres on solitude, resilience and a gradual reconnection with herself. Ula Pontikos and Sophie Ebrard bring together their respective approaches to cinematography and documentary storytelling, shooting largely with available light and working with Scotland’s shifting weather and terrain.
Rather than treating the FX5 as the subject, Masha uses the camera as part of the filmmaking process, moving between expansive landscapes and more intimate moments while keeping character and atmosphere at the centre.
