At the centre of the campaign is the longest ad ever made in New Zealand: a 30-minute film in which Tāme Iti reads out more than 500 names of real Māori voters, shared with consent, pausing only for a tea break. The roll call draws on a deep cultural history of Māori answering the call in times of war, protest and collective need, reframing enrolment as an act of representation and unity.
With more people on the Māori roll meaning more Māori seats in parliament, the campaign asks a simple question: “Will you answer the call?” It is a direct appeal for Māori to raise their hands for a stronger voice in the decisions shaping Aotearoa now and into the future.
