What format should I submit my work?

Media type: Video
File types: mov, mp4
File size: Up to 350 Mb
Minimum resolution: 1920 x 1080
Video codec: H264

We can also accept your entry media as a Vimeo link.
PLEASE NOTE this should NOT be private or password protected.

What is the maximum length of film ?

20 minutes.

If placed in the showcase we will not be able to show the entire film on the night of the Virtual Awards ceremony.
We will show a clip however and the full length films - unless they are still in festival - will be shown online on 1.4.

How much does it cost to enter?

EARLYBIRD Entry fees (until July 30)
£100 for 1 entry
£190 for 2 entries
£270 for 3 entries
subsequent entries in the same order are £90 each

STANDARD Entry fees (From August 1 to September 20)
£140 for 1 entry
£270 for 2 entries
£390 for 3 entries
subsequent entries in the same order are £130 each

LATE Entry fees (From September 21 to October 1)
£150 for 1 entry
£290 for 2 entries
£420 for 3 entries
subsequent entries in the same order are £140 each

subsequent entries in the same order are £50 each

How many times can I enter?

You may enter as many times as you like.
The more you enter the greater the discount. Please see costs above.
For instance, after three entries the pricing fee is discounted to £90 for each additional Earlybird entry; £130 for each additional late entry.
Subsequent entries for students are £40 each .

Will there be a jury this year?

A jury of commissioning editors, music labels, brands, heads of tv, creative directors, and cultural producers will select the shortlist and medal winners.

When will the 2021 Ceremony take place?

Due to the ongoing uncertainty with the pandemic and live events, we will be holding a virtual ceremony on December 7th 2021.

We can’t wait to celebrate big time with our awards supper party in 2022.

Are there categories?

There are three showcases: In the Making; On The Cusp of Greatness and Flying High Established.

The categories are:
Music Video
Choreography
Planet Positive
Commercial
Short Film - Fiction
Short Film - Non Fiction
Animation
Branded Content
Fashion Film
Personal Project (Non-commercial, spec, video art etc)

Are there medals to be won!

Yes! Gold ! Silver!

We are aware that this is a difficult year.
if you are struggling to afford the full entry fee please get in touch.
Our goal is to encourage talent not to stifle it.
Please include a link to your work so that we can view it.

Please bear in mind though 1.4 is self-funded and independent.
We are completely dependent on your entries support for sustaining 1.4's online magazine which is used as a year-round resource for commissioners. It's also a damn good read of interviews with brilliant filmmakers.

How long have the awards been running?

The inaugural 1.4 Show and Party was on September 17, 2015.
Followed by the 1.4 Show and Party on
October 5 2017,
November 21 2018,
October 10 2019 at The Oval Space, London
February 18 Virtual Ceremony
