Born in Durango, México, and raised in El Paso, TX, Wes graduated from Stanford University with degrees in Psychology and Neuroscience and has directed bold commercial work for Gatorade, Ford, Tesla, Nike, Shiseido, BMW, Corona Beer, Nissan, and Google. He has made waves as well with his music videos for notable artists Bob Marley, Joey Bada$$, Buju Banton, and Jidenna. His recent spot for Root Insurance, starring controversial Nascar driver Bubba Wallace, was hailed as “striking and powerful” by publications like Adweek and Fast Company. Shots honored Wes with the 2021 ‘New Director of the Year’ award, along with Sound Design and Cinematography awards for his Root Insurance work. AICP recently honored Wes with a ‘AICP 2022 New Director of the Year’ nomination as well for his Gatorade work.  He was also named to the 2022 Adweek Creative 100 as one of only ten film directors globally this year. Wes is currently only two years into his commercial directing career and his work continues to garner awards and shortlists industry-wide including AICP, ADC, Webby, Clio, Clio Sports, Berlin Commercial, and YDA awards.  As a Black and Mexican director, he is passionate about channeling uplifting stories that champion diversity, bringing to light the power, beauty, and humanity of all people of color. He works hard to ensure that equal representation happens behind the lens as well, hiring diverse and inclusive crews on every project.
