Samsung x Raheem Sterling - 'Sterling Sells'

Mak Mahmut Akay

Mother Studios, The Mill (global), The Visionaries (UK)

The creatives at Mother had written a clever mockumentary script that would have footballer Raheem Sterling sell the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 to a group of strangers using a presentation he'd never seen before. To capture the awkward humour, we knew Raheem's delivery would need to feel authentic. Rather than directing him to perform 'comically', conversely, we refrained from giving him any context of the film and told him to follow the presentation as a guide to genuinely sell the Z Fold4 with the best of his abilities to the strangers. Little did he know that the PowerPoint slides were filled with 90s-esque WordArt graphics, budget animations, cringeworthy text and tacky SFX. The result? A befuddled Raheem trying to sell a phone, unimpressed strangers and us struggling to contain our cackling behind the camera.
