Kyle Thrash

Knucklehead

“Kyle’s body of work immediately cuts through the noise” says Knucklehead MD, Matthew Brown, “we were all completely captivated with his films when we saw them, and he already has some incredibly exciting projects in the pipeline.” Born in Philly, Thrash grew up in Leigh County PA in a small town called Germansville. Lots of unsupervised time as a kid meant getting into trouble with his two brothers - often filming skate videos on his Hi8 video camera and screening them at his school for friends and teachers. “I would also go to the cinema every Sunday and we’d make it a point to see anything and everything,” Kyle muses. “Growing up in a small town I was very curious what else was out there so this was my way to see over the fence.” He used filmmaking as a way to experience, learn, and grow; to celebrate characters and stories that make life worth it. His work very quickly gravitated toward capturing the underbelly of America - the interesting characters and oddballs that are rich with environment and sense of place. It was clearly his calling. His Music Videos have been shortlisted for 3 UKMVAs (the latest in 2020 for his Lewis Capaldi video Before you Go), nominated for Best Music Video at 2018 SXSW and received a host of Vimeo Staff Picks. His commercial credits include the likes of LinkedIn, NFL, Levi’s and Vitamin Water. 2020 also brought the Amazon Prime release of his debut Feature Doc Maybe Next Year which serves as a love letter to the passionate and often-times eccentric fans of the Philadelphia Eagles. Critically acclaimed, it has received Honourable Mention for Best Direction at the 2019 Philadelphia Film Festival.
