1.4 Awards: Winners and Highly Commended Showcases
Here are the films deemed the very best in short-form brilliant filmmaking

The 1.4 Awards Show of Brilliant Filmmaking had an astounding number of entries this year. They were viewed by various selection teams including our final jury – the 1.4 Board of Good Taste – made up of some of the best creative minds in the industry.

So many of the jury have said they were completely blown away by the level of work and the value of viewing films they hadn’t seen before by directors they had never heard of.

Much of the work in our showcases is darker than in previous years. That’s not surprising, given the global political situation. But it’s reassuring that the zeitgeist is so eloquently expressed in the messages and filmic craft displayed in these films.

It’s our great pleasure now to share with you the Showcase winners and the Highly Commended work. We’ve uploaded the films in full length (and trailers for those films still in the festival circuit).

Every film included in the Showcases is a grand winner. The silver and gold medals however are awarded to directors who scored highly with a body of work rather than an individual film, or came top of their category.

Gold medals were awarded to: Henry Scholfield (Flying High Established); Diana Kunst and Thessa Meijer (On The Cusp of Greatness); and Francisco Gonzalez Sendino (Film Student).

Silver medals were awarded to: The Coles; Vedran Rupic; and Noah Lee (Noco).

The 1.4 Show Party was a sensational celebration of Brilliant Filmmaking and of course we couldn’t have done it without our sponsors: CANADA, Knucklehead, Rattling Stick, the Mill, Radical Media and Unit. They have been incredibly supportive, way beyond contributing financially.

THANK YOU TO OUR AMAZING PARTNERS AND THANK YOU TO ALL THOSE WHO ENTERED AND CAME ALONG TO MAKE THE AWARDS SHOW SUCH A GREAT NIGHT.
