Pasqual Gutiérrez and Raúl “RJ” Sanchez (CLIQUA) are a Mexican-American directing duo. Their hyperactive, eye-popping music videos have already won them a host of talented admirers, including Rosalía, Bad Bunny and J. Balvin. Independently, Pasqual and Raúl have been a leading influence in the explosion of Hispanic and Latin culture in popular music, and they’ve played a pivotal role in shaping its imagery. They formed a duo in 2018, and since then, they’ve directed ‘Bichiyal’ for Bad Bunny, ‘Yo x Ti, Tu x Mi’ for ROSALÍA, ‘Reggaeton’ for J. Balvin and ‘Keeping Tabs’ for CUCO. In a single year, their videos amassed a combined total of 700 million views on YouTube. In 2021, they directed three megahit music videos for The Weeknd, including ‘Sacrifice’, ‘Take My Breath’ and ‘Save Your Tears’. After the global impact of The Weeknd’s previous album, CLIQUA were designated to mastermind and reinvent the next phase of his career. The chilly, apocalyptic iconography they created for his album ‘Dawn FM’, as well as their signature manipulation of his face, is now immediately recognisable - and has been widely imitated in music and fashion. The duo have also begun to make a splash in advertising, including ‘Self Care’ for Facebook, starring Becky G, and commercials for Nike, PUMA, Adidas and Hyundai. Their Rick Ross starring commercial for Wingstop, ‘Thigh Boss’, recently won the Creative Commerce Grand Prix at the Cannes Lions. They are currently working on their debut feature, ‘Street Legal’, a film about street racing culture in California. CLIQUA are currently based in Los Angeles.
