Josefina Dusk - Shuffle to the Traffic Sound

Tomáš Suchánek

Freelance

While producing "Shuffle to the Traffic Sound," I tried to evoke the experience of a dream or a hallucinogenic trip and, to do so, I chose one of the most grotesque motives that I could think of. What if the main character was looking for her lost pet chicken and, after finding her torso eaten by psychedelic mushrooms, what if she cannot resist the temptation to taste them too? Having done that, Josefina gets devoured by the force of the hallucination and immerses herself into the oneiric trip insomuch as her personality dissolves and her dark alter ego takes over. Being captivated in a sort of mirror maze where she has to confront her own distorted image, she is given a hammer with help of which she crashes the mirror prison in which she is held captive and - voila - an egg hatches in the final image. Pretty trippy, no?

After years spent with writing and literary studies, Tomáš Suchánek finally anchored his passion for art in cinema. He debuted with an experimental film Dead Metaphor (2018) and, after a brief encounter with FAMU, started co-writing and co-directing shows, commercials and documentaries for Czech TV. At the moment, he works as a director, editor and curator of self-promotion videos for Prima TV. In his oeuvre, he focuses on the psychological, oneiric and mysterious. His latest independent work includes music videos for Dmitrievna's track "Logika" (2020) and Josefina Dusk's "Shuffle to the Traffic Sound" (2022).
