Director's Works
My work is all about real people. Nothing in this world is more interesting than a person's life, any person. Things get taken for granted, but everyone has a story to tell.
Scripted or unscripted, depth and empathy are at the heart of everything I do.
When I saw Isaac’s social media posts about being forced from his family home because the council was unable to offer respite care to his 83 year old mother, his sense of frustration and powerlessness was palpable. He writes brilliantly and conveys his emotions with authenticity and clarity and I found it so effecting that I wanted to turn that complex swirl of emotions, relationships and circumstances in to a film.
Conceptually the film happened pretty much all at once, I saw it all clearly, all that was left to do was to make it.
With the help of Partizan the filmmaking world all rallied round and we brought this beautiful film to life. It’s one of my favourite films to have made, and the cause behind it, and the support of the community, makes me really appreciate the work that I get to do.
