This film takes place on the legendary King Ranch in South Texas, the namesake for a high-end trim of the Ford F-Series truck line. The King Ranch is the largest working ranch in the US, but the more impressive fact, in my opinion, is that the ranch is still worked by descendants of the original Kiñenos cowboys, who were recruited from Northern Mexico to help build and tame the sprawling 825,000 acres in 1853. Today, you will find employees on the ranch who are 5th, 6th and even 7th generation King Ranch cowboys. They possess a unique spirit and sense of duty. To them, their occupation, although difficult, is an honor and privilege. It is something to be cherished and passed on to the next generation with immense joy and pride.
The work ethic of the King Ranch Kiñenos resounds throughout the culture of South Texas. It truly is a special place where the can-do spirit of the American West meets the heritage of Northern Mexico, creating something uniquely its own. I grew up in South Texas, and after living in New York City for a number of years, it was an absolute honor to shed light on this place so close to home. My hope is that in these short two minutes, you can get a sense of the tenacity, dedication, and pride embedded in the hearts of this special group of people.
