Joe is a Brooklyn-based writer, director, producer, and editor from Providence, Rhode Island. His work is typically colorful, energetic, authentic, and told with humor.
Joe's latest short, MY KIND OF PEOPLE, won the top prize at the 2024 Russo Brothers' Italian American Filmmaker Forum, won Joe Gold at the 2025 Young Director Award at Cannes Lions, as well as Best Actor at 2025 Flicker's Rhode Island Film Festival, and Audience Choice Awards at the 2025 Proof Film Festival, 2025 Santa Fe International Film Festival, and 2025 Woods Hole Film Festival.
-Joe shot in and around his hometown, Providence, Rhode Island.
-Joe utilized many first time actors in the supporting cast, including his grandfather, Joe Picozzi Sr., who plays "Pop."
-This project was partially funded by a fellowship from the Russo Brothers' Italian American Filmmaker Forum
