Elias Ben Dahhou is a German director known for emotionally driven storytelling that blends documentary authenticity with bold visual ideas. He studied directing at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg and has quickly gained international attention through award-winning short films and commercials for brands like Nike, Mercedes-Benz and Adidas. His work often explores social impact, identity and human connection, earning recognition at festivals such as Cannes YDA, Berlin Commercial and shots Awards.

Losing Voices was conceived as a social spot for the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), a global NGO that defends reporters who face imprisonment, intimidation, and censorship. The goal was to create a piece that doesn’t rely on shock imagery, but instead conveys the constant, invisible pressure under which many journalists operate.

The film places viewers inside that psychological space: walking with two reporters who have just released an investigative story, sensing the threat around them without ever seeing it. It highlights a simple truth - when journalists are silenced, their stories disappear with them.

By focusing on the human side of the profession, the piece seeks to remind audiences that behind every headline there is a person whose freedom, safety, and family are at risk. The intention is to support CPJ’s mission by raising awareness and encouraging viewers to engage with their work, helping to keep the voices of imprisoned journalists alive.
