Idris Frederick, Prince of Eden Alicia Shi

WEBSITE

This short film was born from a collaboration with acclaimed jazz pianist Idris Frederick, built around his piano composition Prince of Eden. Idris is constantly on the move - touring, performing. Each time he returns to New York, he’s searching for that pivot point, a moment of stillness and clarity. I wanted to explore that emotional recalibration: how a city can reflect you back to yourself.
The story is more mood than plot, carried through poetic visuals, voiceover, and classical composition. At its heart, it’s about presence, identity, and the shifting sense of what “home” really means. In a life full of movement, the question becomes the anchor. The instability becomes the new norm. That’s the beauty of it.
